Index to Faux Readers Letters in Radioactive Man

Following below is a index to all the faux letters published in the Ground Zero section of Radioactive Man comics.   One may be inspired ask, how do we know for sure which ones are faux?  Simple!  Sometimes we don't.   It doesn't help that many real letters, not documented below, were written in the spirit of the "original" publication date.   All letters (including these) are indexed in our  Meet the Fans!  document.

Name Ground Zero Issue Notes
=====   Ordered By Appearance in Ground Zero   =====
Richard Nixon Radioactive Man #1000 While we're convinced the President would consider Radioactive Man comics well worth addressing, he's dead.
Roger Doubt Radioactive Man #100 Roger Doubt was referenced in RM #100 as the writer of a "classic 12-part epic" series of RM in 1977
Homer J. Simpson Radioactive Man #100 Well, duh. A letter from Marge appeared in Radioactive Man #222
Melvin Coznowski Radioactive Man #100 Response from editor reveals this letter is really from Roger Doubt.  Melvin Coznowski was one of the original names for Alfred E. Neuman of MAD Magazine.

Davey Sherman Radioactive Man #136 Davy Jones and Bobby Sherman come to mind, but not everything has to have meaning!
Hollis Hurlbut Radioactive Man #4 Hollis Hurlbut is head of the Springfield Historical Society from episode [3F13] Lisa the Iconoclast.
Phineas T. Fables Radioactive Man #4 This tenor of this letter from Phineas T. Fables, as in Phineas T. Barnum, has a circus quality to it.
Artie Ziff Radioactive Man #575 Forever in love with Marge, Artie Ziff was first introduced in episode [7F12] The Way We Was.
M. T. Marble Radioactive Man #575 We proffer multiple possibilities and invite comments.
1) Empty Marble? 2) An allusion to Marble Comics, the Marvel "What the?" self parody? 3) A reference to Tokyo Mangasha Marble comics?
John P. Wintergreen Radioactive Man #575 John P. Wintergreen ran for president in the George Gershwin musical Of Thee I Sing.
David Fortunov Radioactive Man #575 Letter references Howard Chaykin, creator of Marvel's comic Dominic Fortune starring Duvid "David" Fotunov.

Apu Nahasapeemapetilon Radioactive Man #106 Proprietor of Springfield's Kwik-E-Mart.
Gail Sanders Radioactive Man #106 The blond woman from Gold Key's Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom, and hence a perfect match for Radioactive Man
Prof. Harbinger Radioactive Man #106 The paranoid scientist from Gold Key's Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom, which the cover of this issue matches.
F. Wagnall, c/o Bellvue Radioactive Man #197 Letter referencing lexicographer Noah Webster is from Funk and Wagnall's.
Brad Goodman Radioactive Man #197 Brad Goodman, voiced by Mel Brooks, brought the 'Do As You Feel' festival to Springfield in episode [1F05].
Leon Kompowsky Radioactive Man #197 Leon Kompowsky, voiced by Michael Jackson, came home with Homer in episode [7F24].
Jorge Lucas Radioactive Man #197 Jorge, as in George Lucas, references writing a screenplay trilogy.  Hence the reason we assume this is not a reference to the Argentinian Comic Book writer.

Original Radioactive Man Publishing Schedule

In Radioactive Man #412 the historical publishing schedule was supplied as "eight times a year from 11/52 to 5/59, then monthly until 4/72, then twice a month until (at least) issue #412, October 1980. Then in Radioactive Man #100 the historical publishing schedule was further detailed; "Radioactive Man has not only published more issues than any other comic book series with one thousand issues in total (excluding annuals, giants, and crossovers,) but it is also the most frequently published comic as well. In fact, from issue #413 (11/80) to #418 (12/80), Morty Mann experimented briefly with a "trimonthly" schedule, before launching into the notorious "weekly" schedule from #419 (1/81) to #679 (12/85) that has been documented in the Duff Book of World Records. After a furious four years of unequaled creative productivity, Morty fell into a more comfortable "week and a halfly" schedule starting with #679 (1/86) and ending with the theoretically final issue of #1000 (1/95). The rumour that publishing had ceased is true, nonetheless, we are happy to report that after a mere three month hiatus publishing resumed monthly in Apr 1995 with issue 1001, as evidenced by reprint and background story information supplied by Simpsons Summer Shindig #3 that indicated that issue #1173 was being published in September 2009.

Therefore we have the following;

Issues Dates Frequency
=====   Ordered By Original Publication Date   =====
      1    -     55 Nov 1952  -  May 1959 Eight times a year
    55    -   208 May 1959  -  Apr  1972 Monthly
  208   -    412 Apr  1972  -  Oct  1980 Twice a month
  413   -    418 Oct  1980  -  Dec 1980 Trimonthly
  419   -    679 Jan 1981  -  Dec 1985 Weekly
  679   -  1000 Jan 1986  -  Jan  1995 Week and a halfly
1001   -  1173 Apr  1995  -  Sep 2009 Monthly

For those of you driven to ask if the Bongo supplied detail precisely matches what has been "reprinted" thus far... well, not exactly.
